The DMV Blues – Season Premier

The following is the screenplay for a new sitcom I asked ChatGPT to write in the style of a 90’s sitcom. It came up with “The DMV Blues”…

Episode 1

Title: DMV Blues: The First Encounter

FADE IN:

INT. DMV – DAY

We see Jessica standing in line, looking frustrated and agitated. She is muttering curses under her breath, and occasionally lets out a loud string of profanities. The other people in line are looking at her, shocked.

A few spots behind her in line, we see Frank, Tiffany, and the old man, who are all staring at her in disbelief.

FRANK:
(to Tiffany and the old man)
“Who is that girl? And why is she cursing like a sailor?”

TIFFANY:
(whispering)
“I don’t know, but she’s making me uncomfortable.”

OLD MAN:
(shaking his head)
“In my day, women knew how to behave themselves.”

As the line moves forward, Jessica accidentally bumps into Frank.

JESSICA:
(aggressively)
“Watch where the f* you’re going, ahole!”

Frank is taken aback by her harsh words.

FRANK:
(offended)
“What’s your problem?”

JESSICA:
(belligerent)
“My problem is with you and every other white person in this country.”

Frank, Tiffany, and the old man are all shocked by her racism.

TIFFANY:
(angrily)
“That’s completely unacceptable. You can’t just say things like that.”

JESSICA:
(defiant)
“Watch me. I say whatever the f*** I want.”

OLD MAN:
(disgusted)
“Young lady, you need to learn some manners and respect.”

Jessica just scoffs and turns away, muttering to herself.

As the line continues to move forward, the tension between the group grows. But as they approach the counter, they all realize they have been waiting in the wrong line.

FRANK:
(frustrated)
“Are you kidding me? We’ve been in the wrong line this whole time?”

TIFFANY:
(laughing)
“I guess we’re all idiots.”

The old man chuckles and shakes his head.

OLD MAN:
“Well, at least we can laugh at ourselves.”

Jessica, however, is still fuming.

JESSICA:
(to herself)
“These white people are all the same. They don’t know anything about struggle or oppression.”

As they walk out of the DMV, the group starts to disperse. But Frank stops Jessica before she can leave.

FRANK:
(to Jessica)
“Hey, I just wanted to say that I’m sorry if I offended you. I didn’t mean to bump into you like that.”

Jessica looks at him suspiciously.

JESSICA:
(snapping)
“Save your fake apologies for someone else, white boy.”

Frank just shakes his head and walks away, leaving Jessica alone.

FADE OUT.
